Russian (Soviet) Germans were an integral part of the population of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union for a long time. They came to Kazakhstan even before the revolution. In the pre-war period, the German population of the Kazakh SSR was insignificant. Crucial changes in the settlement of the Soviet Germans happened during the Great Patriotic War, when they were deported from the Volga region and other western regions of the USSR to Kazakhstan and Siberia. The main part of the German population ended up on the territory of the Kazakh SSR. Thus, an emigration niche was formed, which would work after the dissolution of the Soviet state. The recipient country for Soviet Germans will be united Germany.
