During the second five-year plan, during the construction of domestic fortified areas (UR), it was decided to use tanks and tank towers, which were armored firing points (BOT), to strengthen firepower along with artillery guns and machine guns. This offer was due to production and economic reasons. The article focuses on the study of the experience of using armored firing points in the Soviet military fortification. The research task is to consider the advantages of bots that contribute to their effectiveness, as well as to find out their inherent disadvantages, which were difficult to overcome at that time. During the Great Patriotic War, bots using tank turrets were used very widely, especially in 1941-1943. The article reveals the reasons for the refusal of the mass use of bots by the Soviet military in 1944-1945.
