The study focuses on the topical issue of economic interaction between the USSR and the PRC during the modernization of their political and economic systems. With the generality of the process of political deideologization, the authors noted the specifics of the implementation of national economic development strategies in the changed geopolitical situation. The authors identify the prerequisites that determined the main directions and characteristic features of economic cooperation between the two countries during the period of “perestroika”, and identify the features of their economic interaction during the period under study. The article traces the dynamics of the development of relations between the USSR and the People’s Republic of China in the context of systemic modernization, identifies their key problem points. The conclusion is made about the importance of trade and economic relations between the Sino-Soviet period of “perestroika” for the stabilization of the Russian economy in the post-Soviet period. The concept of “four modernizations” is shown to be effective and has proved more adaptable to the changed geopolitical realities.
