The article examines the activities of the Arctic state farms of the Yakut ASSR in the 1960s and 1970s, when the economic occupations of indigenous peoples faced the need to adapt to new conditions of organization and management. The farms in question had a reindeer-breeding and commercial specialization profile. The article focuses on traditional reindeer husbandry, which became a major branch of the economy in the Soviet period. Using the example of Anabar and adjacent Arctic regions of the Republic, the issues of labor productivity with the effective use of traditional knowledge and technologies, careful attitude to reindeer husbandry not only as a branch of the economy, but also as a historically established lifestyle of cultural value are highlighted. The debatable problem of the validity of the mass and forced reorganization of all collective farms of the North into state farms is also touched upon; the relevance of a new study of the social experience of the Arctic state farms of Yakutia during the 1960–1970s is shown
