Modern France: from multiculturalism to zero tolerance?

Бесплатный доступ

In recent years in France, as a result of a whole range of reasons (from economic problems to terrorist acts of 2015-2016), a split and fragmentation of society has occurred, which, among other things, leads to the radicalization of public consciousness. This is best seen in the example of the problem of preserving national and religious identity in the country. The radicalization of views is noticeable on both sides: the growing popularity of Islamist movements among the Muslim population of France, the growth of Islamophobic sentiments among the indigenous population of the country. As a result, multiculturalism, tolerance and dialogue of cultures, which until recently were an organic part of French society, are today being questioned even within the intellectual and scientific community of France.
