The article presents key indicators of current ethnolinguistic situation in the republic (ethnolinguistic identity and linguistic competence; functioning of languages in the main regulated and non-regulated spheres of communication) which were determined based on the census materials of 1989, 2002, 2010 as well as on the results of a large-scale sociolinguistic survey.
