Modern St. Petersburg musical life in the context of XXI century Russian culture

The subject of the study is the phenomenon of musical life in modern Russian culture. The aim of the work is to study its role and importance in the formation and development of Russian society, national identity and spirituality. The article substantiates the maintenance of the “musical life” concept, defines its functions as a socio-cultural phenomenon in the spiritual development of the population. The novelty of the undertaken study lies in the theoretical justification of the concept of “musical life” in terms of social culture, as well as in the analysis of the content of modern musical life in St. Petersburg in the context of Russian culture of the early XXI century. The study of this phenomenon is based on the methodology of socio-cultural analysis. It is revealed that modern musical life is an effective means of spiritual and cultural development of Russian youth.
