Modern Russian literature in China: problems of perception and interpretation

The article reviews the problems of perception and interpretation of modern Russian literature in China, with literature being a generator and conductor of national ideas and meanings. Through literary text, the Chinese people are introduced to the Russian world’s values in all their varieties, extrapolating the dominating models on own history. Spiritual and moral dominant of Russian text appears to be centripetal, the Chinese people’s perception of the text is complete: the author - the hero, a historical event - its artistic realization, the fact - the image, geography - landscape, reality - fiction. The author reviews the latest trends of modern Russian literature and its introduction to Chinese book market, which is considered not only in the aspect of consumption but also in the light of intellectual demands of educated Chinese people. The origin and essence of Russian text and its representation in «other» consciousness is reviewed in a wide cultural context. Old classical and new «fashionable» literature of Russia are considered as a unit, system and indivisible.
