Up-to-date methods of automatic time expression resolution in natural language texts

The article is devoted to the extraction of time information from the text in the natural language by analyzing the time instructions that it contains. The paper presents an overview of current achievements in this field, primarily in the application to texts in English. Methods and approaches used by the authors of Western systems of automatic text analysis are considered, as well as a proposal for using a similar approach to Russian-language material. The most problematic areas of the text are identified, namely, anaphoric, deictic and elliptical elements of temporal expressions
