In 2011 more than 520,000 cases of cancer were revealed in Russia. It was 15.77% more than in 2001. Parenchymal renal tumors represent 4-5% of all malignancies. The advantage of the modern diagnostic methods is their ability to detect small tumors, which facilitates the choice of optimal treatment strategy and ensures better prognosis. The author reviews the modern methods of anatomic and functional diagnostics of renal cell carcinoma. The efficiency of modern organ-sparing treatment of that disease is discussed, both from the point of view of oncology and of kidney function.
