This article summarizes available data about lateral patellar compression syndrome (LPCS) diagnostic procedures and surgical treatment. This disease makes up a significant portion of visits to doctor’s office. Up to 15 % complaints of orthopedic patients with knee pathology are related to LPCS [1]. Article describes evolution of diagnostic algorithm and surgical treatment. Great number in vivo and clinical studies related to LPCS were done in recent years, including ones according to the principles of evidence based medicine. Radio-logical diagnostic procedures are becoming more important, especially MRI and functional multislice spiral CT. At the same time there is no universal diagnostic protocol. Both, surgi-cal treatment and outcome evaluation are not standard- ized. This causes difficulties for com-parison of available data.
