The aim of the work is to characterize the current climatic conditions of the South-East of the Central black earth region and their impact on the formation of economic indicators of winter wheat plants. The objects of research are hydrothermal conditions of the region and winter wheat represented by varieties Steppe 135, Basalt, Chernozem 115, Chernozem 130 and Basalt 2. The place of research is the nursery of the main competitive variety testing. It is established that as a result of climate warming in the south-east of the Central Chernozem zone, conditions for winter wheat cultivation are improving. The period of autumn vegetation increases, which increases the probability of sowing in favorable moisture conditions. Increased temperatures during the cessation of active vegetation reduce the risk of plant death from negative factors of overwintering. Droughts of varying severity in the spring and summer negatively and significantly affect the yield and production of grain, but can improve the quality of grain in its preparations.
