The article examines modern strategies for the development of education in the Republic of Belarus, determines the main directions for reforming the national education system. Recent changes in the legislative support of education are traced, innovations in general secondary education are analyzed, problems of knowledge assessment are touched upon. The main principles and ideas of multicultural education in the Republic of Belarus are outlined.
