This paper examines the role of facial expressions as a diagnostic sign of credibility, the features of facial activity, and the differences between macro-expressions and micro-expressions. Microexpressions are extremely brief, appearing for no more than a quarter of a second, these expressions are uncontrollable, making them an important tool in detecting deception . Studies initiated by Ekman P . have shown that facial expressions are related to basic human emotions and often act as an indicator of attempts to conceal the true state, which makes the analysis of microexpressions promising in the field of lie detection . The most reliable tool is psychophysiological research with the use of polygraph, it is studied in the most detailed way, but has a number of limitations .Special attention is paid to automated systems of mimicry analysis using modern technologies of computer vision and artificial intelligence . These approaches make it possible to overcome the limitations of human perception and open new opportunities for objective and reliable diagnosis of deception . Currently, there are many systems on the market for automatic detection of micro-expressions . These systems demonstrate an acceptable level of reliability and can be used in research as an additional source of information about the subject’s condition.
