The COVID-19 pandemic has caused not only economic turmoil in the global economy, but also a humanitarian crisis. In this situation, much attention is paid to the threats to the food supply of the population, especially in the context of the current dependence of countries on food imports. At the same time, restrictive measures caused by the need to contain the spread of coronavirus infection have led to a reduction in trade between countries, including food. Another wave of lockdowns in the spring of 2020 brought down the catering sector, however, milk consumption per capita increased during the year as a result of the closure of catering outlets (cafes and restaurants). The domestic market of individual countries “responded” to restrictive measures in different ways. The Russian dairy industry is not as dependent on the sales market as, for example, the dairy industry of the United States or the EU countries, which allowed not only to maintain the production potential of the industry, but also to increase the volume of the domestic dairy market by 4,8 %. The traditions of consumption of milk and dairy products in China stipulated a low level of consumption of these products - 35-35 kg / person a year. But even here, consumption increased during the lockdown. China is among the top ten world leaders in milk production and is one of the leading exporters in the global dairy market. The introduction of a lockdown is a factor of economic and humanitarian instability, both in individual countries and on a global scale.
