Modern trends of university transformation

The article deals with the information economy which is aimed at the formation of a knowledge society. Three models of universities are shown: Research University, a competency-based training one and an entrepreneurial educational institution. The author defines the concept of ecosystem. The purpose of the transformation is to strengthen its leadership position in the field of scientific and educational support for the real sector of the regional economy through integration and transfer of intellectual potential. The key systemic transformation project is the development of competencies in the environmentally friendly economy of the region. The main areas of educational activity transformation include improvement of career guidance, optimization and diversification of training areas, improvement of the educational process, development of the educational infrastructure, and transformation of human resources. The aspects of the formation of an individual educational career and the acquisition of supra-professional competencies are highlighted. The main directions of the transformation of research and innovation activities are thought to be the buildup and increase of the efficiency of using scientific potential, the development of innovative production activities, and the improvement of innovative infrastructure. The improvement of the economic base of the university is based on optimizing the costs of management and economic activities, modernization and development of infrastructure, increase of the efficiency of using the economic base, and expansion of finance sources. The author proposes a transition from the functional organizational structure of the university to a process oriented management system and the development of a project management system.
