Modern approach to the study of youth and its role in socioeconomic development of the country

The article deals with the evolution of theoretical approaches to the definition of the concept “youth”. The analysis of definitions and views on young people at different times has been made, the respective roles of this social group in certain historical periods have been pointed out. It is pointed out that prior to today's younger generation are more serious and global challenges, in contrast to the youth of other eras. First of all, the author attributes this to the growing economic and demographic burden on the young generation, which will ensure the sustainable development of the country over the next decades. In this regard, the necessity of consistent and stable state youth policy, a versatile and comprehensive research of such a multifaceted phenomenon as youth, in which it should be viewed as a strategic resource and holder of innovation potential of successful social and economic development of our country.
