Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery and the Daurian mission: history and modernity

The article considers the main stages of the establishment of the Daurian Orthodox Mission in Transbaikalia founded to spread Orthodoxy among the indigenous peoples. The geographical location of the mission caused a certain activation of monasteries as organizational centers in the creation of spiritual missions in the eastern neighboring countries. We analyze not only the reasons for the formation of the mission and the reasons for its long and successful functioning on the territory of Transbaikalia but also the main results of its activity. Spaso-Preobrazhensky monastery in Posolsk village has become an example of the renewal of the Daurian spiritual mission in modern realities. We have shown the truly ascetic activity of the monastery servants and the population of the village. Working together daily the people revive the best traditions of the Orthodox priesthood in the resurgence of spiritual traditions in the lives of modern regional inhabitants.
