The paper studies the characteristics of selfconscience (self-real, self-ideal) as a component of the psychological disorder syndromes complex in psychoactive substance dependence. The research involved patients with alcohol and heroin addiction in comparison with a control group. The results suggest that patients addicted to heroin and, to a lesser extent, dependent on alcohol, have a negative, contradictory and distorted self-conception, and structural components of the self-appraisal "self-real" and "self-ideal" are mismatched. Characteristics of the patients’ self-conception are mostly accentuated, and a number of parameters reflect deconditioning style of reaction.
