Introduction. Migration is a social demographic process with numerous crucial functions - social, political, economical, cultural etc. Migration can change the size of the population, its age and national components. The causes of migration vary: seeking for the job, improving house conditions, improving living conditions, etc. Мaterials and Methods. Questionnaires were used to study the specifics of interaction between the local population and migrants. 60 respondents of different age groups participated: from 22 to 32 (22 year-olds - 21%; 25 year-olds - 18; 26 year-olds - 9; 27 year-olds - 15; 28 year-olds - 15; 32 year-olds - 12%). Only 6% were represented by 42 year-olds and 3% by 52 year-olds. Results and Discussion. Population of many countries “suffers” from migrant-phobia and perceives migration primarily as other-ethnic towards the dominant national majority of the regions. This gives the background to the rejection of migrants by the majority of the local people. Such an attitude may provoke tension and conflicts in interaction between migrants and the native people of the area and decreases possibilities of their successful adaptation and integration. Conclusions. It is necessary to take measures to prevent negative influence of migration processes and increase tolerance of the adopting society: multicultural education, overcoming language borders, migrants' awareness of the fundamentals of the state system, history, cultural traditions and rules of conduct in the society of the adopting state, developing interpersonal communication etc.
