The specifics of the associative component of the concept “home” (on the material of English and Russian languages)

The article compares the content of the concepts “Home” in English and Russian language pictures of the world. The actual content of the concepts is modeled on the basis of data from a free associative experiment. The field structure of concepts and thematic groups are revealed. Similarities and differences are established. The concept under study has a pronounced axiological orientation. In both linguistic cultures, there is a gap between the concepts of “Home” and “Family”. The most numerous are the associations with the house as a residential structure and household items. In the Russian language consciousness, the concept under consideration is more formed.
