The article studies the specific features of the nobility's landownership in the second half of the XIX - early XX centuries in the North Caucasus region. The author examines the various stages of its existence in the region, starting from its inception after the annexation of the region to the Russian Empire to the gradual liquidation of its various forms by the early XX century. Various aspects of this process are investigated, and its regional specificity, inherent exclusively in the North Caucasus as an annexed Russian territory, is revealed. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that agriculture and farming are still the most important areas of public policy of the country, designed to ensure its independence and self-sufficiency as one of the world's leading world powers. In this regard, the experience of farming, its advanced achievements, mistakes and miscalculations may well be used in the development of modern state policy in the field of agriculture as the basis of Russia's food security. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that the author, based on historical material, for the first time tried to trace the dialectical complexity of the development of the nobility landownership in the North Caucasus from the second half of the XIX to the early XX century.
