The article analyzes the specificity of becoming a leading researcher. The modern tendency in epistemology demands to refuse from the prescriptive research postulated the values of truth, practicability and completeness. Social epistemology poses the program of the descriptive research in science; the point of the research is the description of the real activities in science. P. Bourdie analyzes science from that point of view. He suggests interpreting science as "the social field" where the scientists fight for the definition of the term. Science is the general concept of methods, criteria of scientific character, the ways of argumentation and acceptability, line of research and the problems which must be solved.
