Teaching foreign (English) language vocabulary to students of physical education specialties

The specifics of teaching a foreign language to students of physical education specialties are considered. The factors causing it are given: low motivation to learn a foreign language, irregular attendance at classes due to sports camps and competitions, insufficient mastery of the school curriculum, a small number of teaching hours, forcing one to look for new approaches to teaching a foreign language to this category of students. The inability to study vocabulary and grammar at the same time poses the problem of choosing priorities for the teacher. In the teaching process, it is proposed to focus on the assimilation of lexical material, considering grammatical structures as auxiliary. To effectively study vocabulary, it is proposed to divide it into two layers: communicative, which does not require memorization, but is acquired by students as a result of regular repetition, and professional, which includes three lexical groups: sports facilities and sports equipment; types of sports and physical activity; anatomical and physiological terms and concepts related to physical education and sports activities.
