The article describes the characteristics of work with an educational inquiry of a modern adult within the framework of counseling. The problems, purposes and tasks of counseling interaction while working with an educational inquiry based on a comparative analysis of contemporary forms of counseling and a primary substantive analysis of carried counseling services are considered. For the first time the author gives the definition of the purposes and tasks of counseling on an educational inquiry as an independent type of counseling, reasoning and practical confirmation of the feasibility and features of counseling work with educational inquiries of adults
