The article regards the peculiarities of organizing work with professionally oriented texts in the process of teaching legal terminology in foreign language classes, as well as the criteria for selecting text material. In foreign language texts it is necessary to preserve some important properties, such as coherence, integrity and informational content, compliance with the logical compositional and logical semantic features that are characteristic in our case of scientific and official-business styles of speech. It should be taken into account that legal specialties, such as law enforcement, psychology of service activity, national security, etc. are associated with a large amount of specific information, the misunderstanding of which can lead to problems in these areas of professional activity. The well-known method of working with text involves several stages: the pre-text stage, the text stage, the post-text stage. At the first stage, new lexical units are introduced and explained. The second stage involves the use of this vocabulary based on the above text as a sample. The third stage includes a series of tasks to work out this material. Legal terminology in this case plays an important role, since it allows for the concise and clear formulation of various legal prescriptions and legal texts. A specific feature of the legal terminological apparatus is consistency, which is explained by the logical construction of the legal system itself. Terms of a legal nature differ in their wide scope, since there is practically no sphere of human existence, wherever the use of this vocabulary is required. Careful analysis and structuring of the studied material creates conditions for learners for their subsequent development of all types of speech activity, including reading and translating literature on the specialty. Moreover, all this will contribute to the desire for independent work of learners on important and relevant issues that are directly related to the future specialty.
