The specificity of the Byzantine style in Russian and European art

This article is devoted to a comprehensive study of the originality of various forms of Byzantine painting, in particular, icons, mosaics, miniature mosaic icons, and frescoes. Much attention was paid both to aspects of the execution of these works, and to the main themes depicted by the artists. The author has characterized the main stages of Byzantine development as a cultural center and examined the specifics of the Byzantine style influence on the formation of Russian and European art, as well as presented vivid examples of the art of that time.
