The specific interaction of music and cinema

The study discusses the interaction of music art and cinema that are intrinsically linked and characterized by age-old traditions. Their combination provides ample opportunities for creating a great sound and visual image. The analysis reveals the similarities and differences between these two long-standing branches of art complying with the trends of the times and the ways to complement each other. There are two opposing viewpoints on the development of music in cinema among the researchers and experts in this regard. On the one hand, music can become a more active element of screenwriting. On the other hand, film music line should be minimized and limited to source music. The author concludes that the interaction of cinema and music is characterized by the following specific features: the processual nature, i.e. the development over time, the dynamic character, the similar structural and compositional principles of the artistic image construction.
