The old problem of the relationship between soul and body does not leave philosophy. In the modern information age information theories of consciousness become more and more popular. Like any other theory, they need the critical analysis. In the article we realize it on such examples as the theory of integrated information by G. Tononi, the two-aspect theory of information by D. Chalmers and several others. According to our opinion, information theories cannot serve as an explanation of mind-body problem and the very nature of consciousness, because they lay down the concrete scientific concept in their basis, which is not capable of rising to the level of a philosophical category. Another drawback is a polysemy and vagueness of this concept, partly generated by science itself, which gives rise to some contradictions, for example, the position that information exists both materially and ideally. As a whole, information theories of consciousness are associated with a certain deanthropologization, since they attempt to study consciousness and the brain in isolation from man himself as a concrete material social being. So, contemporary information theories to new, more «subtle» versions of dualism or to informational panpsychism, the idea of the fundamentality and ubiquity of information and the associated phenomenal experience for whole reality.
