Light beams of spiral type: a new field in coherent optics

New class of laser beams, which are called spiral type beams, was theoretically researched and realized experimentally. These expanding beams have predetermined intensity distribution structure. The structure is accurate within scale and rotation. The spiral-type beams with intensity distribution in the form of arbitrary line were obtained. Several methods of spiral-type beam synthesis are described in the paper. Experimental results of transformation of Gaussian beam into a triangle-line laser beam are also presented.
