Sport as a social institution in the age of globalization

This article describes the social and philosophical aspects of the sport institutionalization in the age of globalization. Physical training and sports have always been considered in the context of mental or physical human activities and it has been considered as a private matter. In the context of globalization such an important indicator of the country development as public health depends on the success of the athlete or sportsmen and the mass involvement in the strengthening and development of health. The author proposes to apply the stratification and multilevel approach to the development of sport as a social institution. The new methodology, according to the author, allows covering all social groups from costly professional performance sports to cheap mass physical training.
