The article examines the methods of interpreting Soviet law in the 1920s. The first decade after the establishment of Soviet power is the first stage in the formation of the Soviet theory of law, including the theory of interpretation. Interpretation of law is understood as a thought process that is aimed at clarifying the meaning of a legal norm. This is the process of explaining legal norms. In the first decade after the establishment of Soviet power, a broad discussion was opened about the methods of interpreting law, which remains relevant to this day. During this period of time, P.I. Stuchka, R. Babun and other Soviet legal theorists put forward their concepts of interpretation of law: official, unofficial, widespread, restrictive and expansive interpretation. The article analyzes the main methods of interpretation and provides examples of interpretation of law.
