Only high-quality seeds, healthy, properly formed, full weight, made without damage, can provide full-fledged seedlings. Using shrunk seeds will lead to lower yields. There are many methods for diagnosing seed quality. Traditional methods, in accordance with the rules of the International Association for the Control of Seed Quality, include laboratory assessment of germination and germination energy, research methods using growth regulators, stained with tetrazole, tests for assessing viability and other alternative methods. However, these methods are laborious, have a long duration and are not always informative enough. For example, a method based on the study of bioelectric signals is an alternative method and allows you to quickly determine the germination of wheat seeds. Since the seed material may not be uniform in composition, the study of the bioelectric signals of individual groups of seeds - shrunk and fulfilled is an urgent issue. The paper presents the results of experimental studies of bioelectric signals of wheat seeds, divided into two groups - shrunk and full-weight. The experiment was conducted on the example of seeds of the Granny variety provided by Wirt LLC, Tselinny District, Altai Territory. The wheat seed sample was divided into fractions using the laboratory sailing classifier K-93 according to air flow rate, and the fractions by visual analysis were divi-ded into groups of shrunk and full-weight seeds. Then, the measurement of bioelectric signals and analysis of the data obtained. As a result of the study, the following pattern was established - the bioelectric signals of shrunk seeds significantly differ from the signals of full-weightseeds. The maximum values of the signals from the shrunk seeds exceed the similar values from those full-weight by 28-83 mV. Moreover, studies have shown hidden shrunk seeds, which visually could not be classified as shrunk. The results can be used to diagnose the quality of the seed after the cleaning line. The method allows to determine the presence of shrunk seeds in the test sample.
