The most common complication during the teeth whitening procedure is a chemical burn of the oral mucosa, which occurs as a result of exposure to the mucous membrane of preparations based on hydrogen peroxide. Peroxides subject proteins to oxidation, cause their destruction, the degree of which increases with increasing concentration of the oxidant, the contact time. The article discusses the results of the use of various methods of treatment of burns of the oral mucosa in clinical teeth whitening using systems based on hydrogen peroxide.
