The article presents the definition and comparison of single-phase short-circuit (short-circuit) currents in networks with a deaf-grounded neutral to a neutral wire and to the ground. The determination of the short-circuit currents to the neutral wire and to the ground has been carried out in the electronic program Electronics Workbench, a comparison using graphs of currents that vary depending on changes in the load grounding resistance. It is established that the currents of a single-phase short circuit to a neutral wire are 4-5 times higher than the short-circuit currents to the ground. However, the currents of a single-phase short circuit to the ground are two or more times the operating currents of the load and, accordingly, can cause emergency modes of operation of the network, up to the ignition of the wiring. It is necessary to develop an algorithm for their calculation and selection of appropriate equipment for protection against short-circuit currents to the ground to prevent the consequences of short-circuit currents
