Comparative characteristics of hypo- and normothermic circulation and myocardial protection strategies in surgical treatment of primary cardiac tumors

This study was aimed at comparing hypo- and normothermic circulation and different myocardial protection strategies in surgical treatment of primary cardiac tumors. 129 patients were included in the study.The comparison was based on operative variables, in-hospital morbidity and mortality rate. We found out that the normothermic bypass was superior to hypothermic one in terms of spontaneous recovery of the initial rhythm after declamping and the need for blood transfusion rate.There were no differences between blood and crys talloid cardioplegia in selected patients.
