Comparison of mortality and reamputation rates after primary and secondary abovexknee amputations in patients with chronic lower limb ischemia

Mortality and reamputation rates after primary and secondary above#knee amputations were studied in patients with chronic lower limb ischemia. It was found that in patients with secondary amputations, unlike those with primary ones, proximal arterial lesions were associated with a higher reamputation rate than distal occlusions of bloodstream.
