Comparative analysis of blockchain and alternative disturbed ledger technologies

Digitalization is one of the most current trends in the development of society today. One of the technologies used in digitalization is the blockchain - the distributed registry technology. Entrepreneurs are increasingly interested in its capabilities, as technologies, rather than cryptocurrency platforms. The purpose of the study is to search for and compare alternative distributed registry technologies that do not use the blockchain. The characteristic features, advantages and disadvantages, opportunities and threats of such technologies as Tangle, Hashgraph, TraceChain are considered. Their possible areas of application are described, as well as ongoing projects. The main advantages were the ability of these technologies to process several chains of transactions at the same time, as well as the absence of additional equipment for their use. These allow them to be faster, more mobile, and to concentrate on certain areas of use. A summary table of analysis of alternative technologies and blockchain is presented. Parameters such as throughput, speed limit, the presence of miners in the system, the structure, the need for additional equipment to use the system, the degree of anonymity in the system, the development stage are analyzed. Despite the advantages, Tangle, Hashgraph, TraceChain cannot provide the same degree of anonymity as the blockchain. They are at the stages of development and testing, while the blockchain is at the stage of introduction and development by the market. Blockchain is developing its own tools to solve its bottlenecks (EOSIO), while maintaining its advantage in scale. Tangle, Hashgraph, TraceChain are aimed at coexistence with the blockchain, and not its replacement by itself. In the future, developers of distributed registry systems need to pay attention to the introduction of services such as KYC (know your client) and AML (anti money laundering) into their systems. They should also think about the possibilities of integrating your systems with other services and technologies of Industry 4.0.
