The comparative analysis of studying the essence and formative stages of «self-identity» in different scientific approaches

The article presents a comparative analysis of the emergence and use of the term “self-identity” by various schools of psychological thought in foreign and domestic practice. Considered are the psychological characteristics of the development of personality’s “self-identity”. The conclusion is made that the content itself and the direct formulations of “self-identity” are currently multifaceted and not completely identical. An analytical survey was carried out to study various approaches to the “self-identity” notion and to identify similarities and differences in the formulation of this notion.
