The paper attempts to review the changes in the existential field as a medium for interaction between communication participants before and after the medial turn. The main category in the analysis is the "subject - body - flesh" axis in the interpretation of the new ontology of Merleau-Ponty. According to the author, enlarging the space of communication can not only expand, but also narrow the scope of interpersonal contact. These challenges to the natural environment of man should be the subject of study not only of Medialogy, but also of Philosophy, a new branch of it called “Media Philosophy”. The paper compares views on the role of media in the communication space of the information society of Media Ecology and Ecosophy adherents. It is noted that modern media can not only change, but also distort our perception, including the image of the Other as part of a distorted reality. The author believes that Merleau-Ponty's New Ontology is able to outline a topological space for the synergetic coupling of both positions and possible ways to address these problems in the phenomenological direction. According to the author, the information and communication universe of modern media space should also include in addition to the already highlighted measurements, an “existential field” - the sphere of interaction of the dialogical connection between the self and the Other, bodily subjectivity and flesh of the world in the unity of its diversity.
