The article considers a medieval trade route linked the North Caucasus with Transcaucasia and the Near East and ran through the Darial Gorge. On this route, considered as the shortest, the main branch of the Great Silk Road passed. The author believes that the road network was located on the territory of modern Ingushetia and branched off from the main branch of the trade route, passing through the Jayrakh (Aramhinskoye) gorge, then passed through the Chulhoi to the Assin gorge and from there to the plain. Particular attention is paid to the system of military fortifications, whose architectural characteristics indicate a high level of development of stone architecture in the medieval Ingushetia. The inclusion of the territory of Ingushetia into the system of international trade of goods and the constant participation of the Ingush People in military campaigns contributed to the economic recovery of the population and the flowering of the material culture of the Central Caucasus.
