The means and methods of advertising in Kuban region in the early 20th century

Based on the records of the State Archives of Krasnodar Territory and advertising materials of the Kuban museums, the research investigates the means and methods of promoting goods and services in Kuban region in the early 20th century. They include newspaper ads, advertising catalogs and brochures, advertisements on souvenir products, theater curtains, and shop shelters, illuminated advertising. The peculiarities of advertising texts in periodicals are revealed. The study reviews the methods of attracting consumers’ attention with the help of red price tags, seasonal discounts, and insert cards in Kuban Calendars. Modern entrepreneurs actively use them as well. The various advertising means are studied on the basis of the archive photos of the pre-revolutionary Ekaterinodar. This research presents a great deal of interest in the investigation of history and economics of Kuban region.
