The article characterized the role of the media as a regulator of public opinion in the changing sociopolitical agenda in Russia in the 1990s. To actualize a wide range of military conflicts in the geopolitical space in 1990- 2000-ies., including those ethnic, territorial, linguistic and religious natures. The article takes a key position analysis of information support ("information war") armed conflicts. We consider both traditional and special information technology influence on public opinion used in today's armed conflicts, appropriate maximum level and intensity conflict, as well as the scope and possibilities of the media to influence public opinion. As an important means of information support of the armed conflict in 1990- 2000-ies. The article analyzes the information to the real-time (non stop technology). Systematized basic information sources and factors (political, organizational, informational, legal and military), influenced the course correction to change public opinion on the objectives and results of military conflicts in the period under review. When covering a strategy to inform the public and the problem of timely access to information for its subsequent transfer to a mass audience, context selection of information sources and the possibility of practicing the standards of freedom of speech. Mentioned influence the escalation of conflict in the communication process between the warring parties, and on the volumes of misinformation. Particular attention is paid to the peculiarities of the information field and the historical experience of the media in its change in military conflicts.
