The authors analyze standards for terms and definitions. The level of professional spoken culture depends on their existence and the quality. Historical stages of standardizational activity in the field of terminology are shown in the article. Such activity is aimed at the perfection of professional communication in the conditions of one country and in the international cooperation as well.
