Formation of public defense institution in the pre-revolutionary Russia: historical legal analysis

The article analyses the pre-revolutionary domestic leg islation on public defense. On the basis of the historical legal analysis the author distinguishes three key stages in the development of public defense institution in the pre-revolutionary law. It is noted that many features of the public defense of the third stage has found reflection in the current legislation, which indicates succession in the legal regulation of public defense institution.
