Abtract. The publication examines a number of objective reasons that determined the formation of monumental sculpture in Russia and China as a propaganda tool formed by the peculiarities of the development of national culture, thinking, and history of both countries. The muralists' artistic solutions are characterized by meta-cultural recognizable techniques that allow them to be analyzed on a general basis. The object of the study is the monumental sculpture of Russia and China, which reveals the stages of the development of art as a propaganda tool and the possibility of typological comparison of Chinese samples of sculptural art and monumental complexes of the USSR. The subject of the study is the specificity of the artistic language of sculptural works. The formation and transformation of the style of monumental art in Russia and China, the techniques that ensure the artistic expressiveness of works are considered in detail. The scientific novelty of the material consists in clarifying the influence that the Soviet school of propaganda had on the monumental art of China.
