The formation of the national self-consciousness of the Abkhazians in the context of socio-cultural transformations

The article examines the process of establishment of the Abkhazian national identity. The key factors in this process are socio-cultural transformations, as it is their nature to make fundamental changes in people's minds and in the social structure as a whole. The subject of the study in this case are the stages, in other words, the stages of the establishment of the national identity of the Abkhazian people. The relevance and novelty of the chosen topic is due to the relatively low coverage of the problems in the domestic scientific activity, as well as the fact that there have been a certain dynamics in the development of ideas of the abkhazian national identity. The findings were presented in the form of a table and graph, which can be seen in the main part of the article. In the course of the study, a number of methods were applied, including: culturological, the method of system analysis, the method of analyzing sources, as well as a civilizational approach. The conclusion of the study states that the Abkhazian national identity was formed in difficult socio-political and socio-cultural conditions and passed through a number of stages in its development, demonstrating its essential role in the establishment and transformation of the Abkhazian state.
