Formation of the census in the 18th century (case study of the Kursk region)

During the first decades of the 18 th century there was introduced a new type of population registration, such as the census. The article shows evolutionary development of the census mechanism by case study of the Kursk region. The author follows improvement of the census procedures during the whole 18 th century.
