The formation of the Old Believer village Novaya Brjan on uninhabited place had its own peculiarity and was the result of forced resettlement of Old Believer peasants from Poland. Relocated Old Believer families initially settled in already existing Russian Baikal villages. But such a settlement was poorly prepared and not fully thought out. Soon it turned out that there was the lack of land for the peasants. On archival materials the article traced the emergence of the first families from other villages in the village of Novaya Brjan and the growth of its population in the past three quarters of a century. Heads of families, family composition, number of houses, the growth of clans were revealed and given the facts of economic achievements in arable farming.
