Characteristics of the functional state of the nervous system of students depending on the level of educational and professional activities regulations

Introduction. The article discusses the question of the relation between the functional state of the nervous system, mental working capacity and direction of the educational-professional activity of students, which is still poorly understood. However, recently the problem has grown in importance, since it is an important indicator of adaptation of individuals to the learning environment. The article presents the results of the study of the functional state of the central nervous system and the level of students' working capacity. The purpose of the article is to justify the grouping the contingent of students into groups with different educational and professional orientation (regulated and unregulated) in accordance with their psycho-physiological characteristics. Materials and Methods. The methodology of the study is based on the systematic approach to the analysis of the psycho-physiological characteristics of individuals. The authors used the method of estimating the latent period of students' simple visual-motor response, while performing the reflexometric test. Results. The main results are the identification of a number of characteristics of the students of different fields of study. It is emphasized that similar distribution is observed in the indicators of efficiency and the degree of fatigue in both compared groups of students. Most students in both groups had a slightly reduced working capacity. The second largest in both groups is the number of individuals with normal working capacity, corresponding to the most optimal functional state of the body. Conclusions. The authors have come to the conclusion that learning conditions in groups, studying regulated and unregulated (creative) fields, do not cause a significant decrease in the functional capabilities of the central nervous system. The authors emphasize that the number of students demonstrating reduced performance is less in the group of students studying creative fields than in the group of students of non-creative learning profiles, which is a consequence of the specifics of creative educational and professional activity. This activity does not cause a significant decrease in the functional reserves of the organism and allows individuals to avoid fatigue for a longer time.
